ARCS National highlights the successes of the organization in “Opening Doors to Scientific Achievements,” its Annual Report of the 2020-2021 academic year. In a year overshadowed by a global pandemic, our mission to empower innovation and scientific discoveries was bolstered by these ARCS milestones:
- 10-years of continuous growth in dollars awarded to scholars
- Maintaining a $5 million level for scholar funding
- Launching ARCS Forward, a speaker series to showcase scholar research
The report also shares the ARCS statement on opening doors to scientific achievement via diversity, equity and inclusion, and the formation of a DEI Action Task Force.
The 2001 ARCS Hall of Fame inductee is F. Peter Schloerb, PhD, who has been recognized for leadership in the development of the Large Millimeter Telescope Alfonso Serrano, which played a significant role in capturing the first visual image of a black hole, confirming Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity.
